TÜV AUSTRIA HELLAS recently completed successfully the certification of the Seafarers Training Directorate in accordance with the requirements of standard ISO 9001. In particular, totally 15 schools that correspond to the Merchant Marine Academy, the Centre of Further Education for Seafarers and the School of Life Saving and Fire Fighting Means were certified. In this context, a special event was organized at headquarters of Seafarers Training Directorate, during which the Certificate ISO 9001 was awarded by the Head of Management Systems & Products Certification Division of TÜV AUSTRIA HELLAS, Mr. Haralambos Aggeloudis and Deputy Head of Management Systems & Products Certification Division, Mrs. Maria Agapitou. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy, Infrastructure, Shipping and Tourism Mr. Theodoros Dritsas, Deputy Secretary General of Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Marine and Tourism Mr. Yiannis Theotokas, the Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard Vice Admiral Athanasios Athanasopoulos and senior executives of Seafarers Training Directorate.
The certification gains special value due to the fact that the Seafarers Training Directorate deals with a huge part of citizens, educating the future seafarers of Greece. Additionally, it is worth mentioning the strong will of both the Administration of Seafarers Training Directorate and the political leadership of the Ministry for the implementation and application of the quality system.
