EU ETS Maritime & FuelEU Maritime Verification
Short Description
The EU ETS Maritime & FuelEU Verification service enables shipowners and operators to demonstrate compliance with the EU’s maritime emissions and fuel-intensity regulations. TÜV AUSTRIA Hellas offers independent, accredited verification of emissions and fuel-related reports under Regulations (EU) 2015/757, 2023/957, and 2023/1805.
Detailed Description
Under the new regulatory framework for maritime transport, verified data from MRV systems form the foundation for both EU ETS Maritime obligations and FuelEU maritime compliance.
Key features of EU-ETS verification:
Key components of our verification service include:
- GHG Emissions Quantification & Fuel Intensity Monitoring: We validate emissions of CO₂, CH₄, N₂O and fuel consumption metrics in accordance with MRV methodology and FuelEU requirements.
- Monitoring Plan Review & Approval: You will submit a Monitoring Plan (for both MRV and FuelEU) which describes methodologies, data sources, quality assurance, and data flow. We verify that the plan meets legal requirements and is fit for purpose.
- Data & Report Verification: We check that reported emissions and fuel-intensity data conform to the Monitoring Plan, underlying records, and document trails. Where needed, we perform site audits, data spot-checks, and cross-verifications.
- Partial / Transitional Verifications: In cases of fleet changes, transfers of ship ownership, or partial periods, we also provide partial report verification and initial compliance balance verification as required by THETIS systems.
- Issuance of Verification Report: Once the verification is successful, we issue a Verification Report and a Compliance Statement, which you may present to authorities (e.g. flag states, port authorities, EU bodies).
