Brief description
ISO 3834 standard series define the quality requirements for welding both in workshops and on site.
The Standard is appropriate when demonstration of a manufacturer’s capability to produce welded construction in accordance with specified criteria is required; it can also be used as the basis for assessing a manufacturer’s welding quality arrangements.
ISO 3834 consists of the following parts, under the general title “Quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials”:
Part 1: Criteria for the selection of the appropriate level of quality requirements.
Part 2: Comprehensive quality requirements.
Part 3: Standard quality requirements.
Part 4: Elementary quality requirements.
Part 5: Documents with which it is necessary to conform to claim conformity to the quality requirements of EN ISO 3834-2, EN ISO 3834-3 or EN ISO 3834-4.
Part 6: Guidelines on Implementing EN ISO 3834.
The ISO 3834 standard is also useful as a “presumption of conformity” as described in European Provisions (Directives / Regulations), e.g., for Pressure Equipment, Construction Products and Simple Pressure Vessels.
Detailed description
Detailed description
The ISO 3834 standard series provides a method to demonstrate the capability of a manufacturer to produce products of the specified quality
Key aspects of the quality management system related to welding are:
• control of documents and records
• management responsibilities
• provision of resources, including competence of personnel
• planning of product realization, including determination & review of requirements related to the product
• control of production and service provision
• purchasing including control of externally provided processes, products and services
• validation of processes
• monitoring and measurement of product and processes
What is the certification procedure?
TÜV AUSTRIA HELLAS, in cooperation with the internationally acclaimed and UKAS-accredited British certification organization Micron2, provides auditing and certification services, with certified Greek auditors.
Who is it for?
The certification is addressed to any organization that includes welding processes in its manufacturing procedure, both in workshops and at field installation sites.
The certifiable parts, under ISO 3834 are Part 2 (high quality requirements), Part 3 (normal quality requirements), and Part 4 (elementary quality requirements). The selection of the appropriate Part 2, 3, 4 is described in ISO 3834 Part 1.
The EN ISO 3834 certification scheme focuses specifically on the company’s welding activities. The evaluation and certification of the welding capability of a manufacturer is provided by TÜV Austria Hellas as an integral part of EN ISO 9001 audit and certification (accreditation in accordance with ISO 17021).
What are the benefits of certification?
The implementation and certification of the welding management system contributes to:
• Clear, high profile independent verification of compliance with EN ISO 3834 standard series.
• Independent confirmation of competence for its welding and fabricating capabilities and staff in a defined scope.
• Increased national and international business potential through demonstrated compliance with internationally recognised welding quality requirements.
• Compliance with specific parts of EN ISO 3834 can be a a “presumption of conformity” as described in a number of European product standards.
