TÜV AUSTRIA HELLAS provides initial and periodic inspection services for lifting machinery and construction machinery, in accordance with the “Regulation for Lifting Machinery Inspections” Joint Ministerial Decision No. 15085/593/2003 (Government Gazette 1186/B/25-08-2003), covering the following types of machinery: port cranes, construction cranes, wall-mounted cranes, mast cranes, gantry cranes, electric winches, forklifts, mobile cranes, small jib cranes, aerial work platforms, concrete pumps, crane-excavators, airport machinery, vehicle lift bridges, column-type automotive workshop lifts, freight elevators, vehicle elevators, scissor lifts, and automatic motorized vehicle parking systems.

Periodic inspections of lifting machinery and construction machinery in Greece are mandatory by law (Government Gazette 1186B/2003) with recurrence intervals determined by the classification of each machine into a risk category. The intervals for these inspections vary from 1 to 5 years.

For professionals/companies that own or use lifting machinery and construction machinery and fail to ensure their equipment is certified by a Recognized Organization, significant fines and the removal of license plates for construction machinery are provided as penalties.
