ESTA (European Seed Treatment Assurance)
What is ESTA?
ESTA (European Seed Treatment Assurance) is a quality assurance system for seed treatment and treated seeds, developed by Euroseeds, a European association representing the seed industry in Europe. It is designed to be compatible with major international standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. This standard provides a framework for implementing good practices in seed treatment, including plant protection products, ensuring that treated seeds meet the requirements set by both legislation and the industry.
Purpose
The main purpose of ESTA is to support the seed industry with a quality assurance system that ensures seed treatment and treated seeds meet the requirements set by both legislation and the industry. This system promotes sustainable production of food, feed, and fibers by ensuring the availability of plant protection products through seed treatment that combines precision and minimal use of active substances with maximum efficiency and minimal environmental impact.
Who is it for?
ESTA is aimed at professional seed processors and companies that produce treated seeds. Companies certified with the ESTA standard provide high-quality treated seeds for the end user, such as farmers, growers, and nursery contractors.
TUV Austria Hellas is the first Greek Certification Body approved by Euroseeds (https://euroseeds.eu/esta-the-european-seed-treatment-assurance-industry-scheme/how-esta-works-for-the-certifying-bodies/) to conduct ESTA Audits.
