TÜV AUSTRIA Hellas has certified the ELECTRA HOTELS & RESORTS Hotel Group with ISO 50001. The certification is the culmination of the Group’s long-standing commitment to the continuous improvement of energy efficiency through the maintenance of an energy measurement and monitoring system.

Specifically, after the successful inspection and certification, the compliance of ELECTRA HOTELS & RESORTS hotels in Athens, Thessaloniki, Rhodes and Kefalonia with the requirements of the standard ISO 50001 is proven in practice.

The pursuit of sustainable development requires continuous and daily commitment for ELECTRA HOTELS & RESORT. The Group plays its own role in mitigating climate change, through responsible use of resources and through local interventions to reduce the environmental impact resulting from its operation, in accordance with international standards of environmental and energy sustainability.

It is noted that the standard ISO 50001 specifies the general requirements for the establishment of an Energy Management System in a company and focuses on identifying opportunities for energy improvement. In addition, it establishes specific objectives and targets for energy savings, which are achieved through energy management programs and systematic monitoring of energy variables.

Mr. Ioannis Kallias, Managing Director of TÜV AUSTRIA Hellas said: Today, certification can be a valuable tool to increase energy efficiency, reduce costs, but also provide a guarantee of every organization’s commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. So, in this time of great challenges for the energy sector, we remain firmly on the side of all those who choose sustainability and sustainable development.”
